About

William A. Cohen, appointed to his role in August 2015, oversees the Honors College, College Park Scholars, Letters and Sciences, the Incentive Awards Program and many other programs. His office administers General Education, learning outcomes assessment, living-learning programs and policy and practice regarding undergraduate curricula, planning and enrollments.

Cohen's scholarship and teaching focus on the literature and culture of the Victorian period, literary theory and the history of the novel. Supported by organizations such as the Mellon Foundation and National Endowment for the Humanities, he has published books and scholarly articles on Charles Dickens, Charlotte Brontë, George Eliot and Anthony Trollope. He holds a B.A. from Swarthmore College and a Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley.
