Steve Fetter, a faculty member in the School of Public Policy since 1988, began leading the Graduate School in October 2017. Over the past three decades, Fetter has held many leadership positions at UMD, including dean of the School of Public Policy from 2005-09 and associate provost for academic affairs from 2012-17.
He has been a consultant to several federal agencies and has taken leave from the university to serve in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, the Department of State and the Department of Defense. Fetter earned a B.S. in physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Ph.D. in energy and resources from the University of California, Berkeley.
