Damon Evans oversees a department with 20 varsity sports and 500 student-athletes, a full-time staff of more than 200, and an annual budget of $95 million. During his tenure, the Terrapins have claimed three national championships and 40 Big Ten championships and tournament titles. He joined the Terrapins in December 2014 as executive athletic director and chief financial officer. He had overseen day-to-day operations since October 2017, and was appointed the following year as director of athletics. Before coming to Maryland, Evans was a managing partner at Evolution Sports Partners in New Jersey, vice president of fundraising at IMG College in Winston-Salem, N.C., vice president of business development at the Markley Group in Boston, and director of athletics at the University of Georgia. A four-year starter on Georgia's football team, Evans earned a B.S. in finance and a master's degree of education in sports management there. Since October 2021, Evans has been a member of the NCAA Transformation Committee.
